Baptism

Baptism is the first sacrament that Catholics experience. Baptism involves a priest performing a blessing over a person and anointing them with water. Baptism removes original sin from a person’s soul.

Eucharist

The Eucharist sacrament is performed at Catholic Mass. For this sacrament bread and wine is consumed that according to Catholic doctrine, is transubstantiated to become the body and blood of Christ during the rite. The Eucharist is a reminder of Jesus’ sacrifice for us.  The Eucharist is all called Communion and only those who are baptized can take Communion.

Confirmation

Confirmation is the final rite into the Catholic Church. It seals our life in Jesus as the head is anointed with Chrism Oil during a mass held at the Cathedral Basilica.

Reconciliation

Reconciliation is when we receive God’s forgiveness for our sins through confession.  During confession, we receive Jesus’ healing grace through absolution by the priest.  

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated in second grade.  Please contact our PSR Director Mariann Jones at 636-789-3311 or email at [email protected].  The church offers other times for Reconciliation.  Please see our parish bulletin for those days/times.

Anointing of the Sick

A person is anointed with oil during this Sacrament and receives the laying of the hands from a priest bringing the forgiveness of sin.

Marriage

In marriage, a baptized man and woman are united together as a sign of unity between Jesus and his Church. The ceremony along with the wedding rings are the signs of this sacrament.

Holy Orders

Holy Orders are when men are ordained as priests, deacons or bishops. The laying on of hands and anointing with oil by the bishop is the sign of this sacrament.
