INTRODUCING OUR DAY OF GIVING

Friends of Good Shepherd,

The ‘20-21 academic year is off to a great start!  We’ve welcomed new students, worked through the challenges of COVID-19 protocols, put fresh coats of paint on the walls, installed new technology to facilitate learning… even with the additional stress of our efforts, there is a real spirit of joy in our parish and school (which the students know to be a fruit of the Holy Spirit).  Above all, we have experienced the guidance and generosity of Jesus as we’ve turned to him every step of the way.  We know that we couldn’t do what we do at Good Shepherd Parish without the grace of God.

For all of us, it has been a year of doing things ‘different’.  From virtual Masses, to remote working, to face masks… we’re rising to the challenge of putting aside the good things we’re used to so as to embrace the good opportunities available in the now.

One of the good things we’re used to that we have to put aside for this year is our parish auction.  We’ll miss the energy, the reconnecting with old friends, the fun of watching who gets the quilt or the puppy this year.  But what we will not have to miss is the opportunity to support the great gift of our parish and school.  As we lay aside the auction, we take up and embrace the opportunity of a Day of Giving.

The Day of Giving will be an opportunity to connect with the parish and school in a number of ways.  On our parish YouTube and Facebook accounts, we’ll have videos and livestreams to help you experience and connect with our students, our faculty, our staff, and each other.  We’ll have interviews, prayer, performances, even some zany fun.  And yes, there will be some elements of the auction for you to participate in if you’ve got an itch for 50/50 raffle or silent auction items.

The heart of the Auction and the heart of the Day of Giving is the same: Faith, Community, and the opportunity to support and be a part of the good work of Jesus in our parish and school.  We’re still finalizing many of the details, but know of our excitement for this day, and hope you will join us for this new opportunity.
