I just wanted to write a follow up to this past weekend’s conversation about the List the Archbishop released on Friday, July 26th.
First, thank you for your prayerful consideration of the names on the list. While there were a variety of re-sponses, most whom I spoke to expressed gratitude and hope. If you have concerns, frustrations or follow-up questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to myself, the deacons, Brenda or Mariann. There’s still a lot of work to be done to heal and improve for the sake of renewing the Church, and we can’t do that without your input.
Also, I know that we have many in our community who didn’t hear the message this past weekend because they were not at Mass. Perhaps this was because of travels or illness, or perhaps this was because they stayed away because they are struggling with this scandal. You all know who they are better than I do. Please reach out to them! They are our friends and family. They belong in our community of faith. You can reach places and hearts that I cannot. I would be grateful for your help in connecting with the lost and stray sheep of Good Shepherd.
Lastly, I know there is plenty more to be done… but it starts with prayer, for only by the grace of God can we get to the very root. This weekend, we are celebrating a special Mass ‘For the Forgiveness of Sins’, for it is in forgiveness that the crucial work of healing begins. In next week’s bulletin, there will be more on future prayer and healing opportunities.
Gratefully in Christ,
