Please extend a warm greeting to two good friends of mine, Fr. Fadi Auro and Fr. Charles Samson, as they help cover Confessions and Masses in my absence.
Fr. Auro, ordained in 2012, is the Vice-Rector for formation at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary, as well as an as-sistant professor of philosophy. He and I overlapped in seminary for several years, and had the joy of sharing a first assignment at Ascension – Chesterfield, he as a first-year priest and me as a transitional deacon.
Fr. Samson was ordained with me at the Cathedral in 2013, and currently serves at Kenrick as an assistant professor of biblical theology and a formation advisor for the college seminarians. He and I also share a love of puns and ‘dad jokes’.
Both men are brilliant, joyful, love our Lord and His Church, and have a zeal for sharing the Gospel. I am grateful for their help! Both are also polyglots, so if you speak a foreign language feel free to test them!
In other news – Archbishop Carlson sent out a letter this past Tuesday asking us to support our brothers and sisters who have been affected by the recent flooding in our area. How many of us know someone personally who has been affected by the near-historic high waters? As the waters recede, the recovery needs be-come ever more apparent. To support the recovery efforts, a second collection will be taken up the weekend of July 20-21st – all funds going directly to relief efforts provided by Catholic Charities and Sts. Joachim and Ann Care Service. For other ways to donate, please see the Archbishop’s letter inside the bulletin. And even if you are unable to sup-port financially, each of us should continue to keep the recovery efforts in our prayers. Never doubt the power of prayer.
Lastly, please pray for me as I join the youth of our parish at the Steubenville Youth Conference in Spring-field, MO, followed by a week of vacation with my family in Branson.
