Last weekend I spoke of how our job as Catholics in building up a culture of life has not been completed with the overturn of the Roe v. Wade decision. In reality our job has gotten much bigger. The overturning of a court ruling does nothing to change the hearts and minds of those in our culture to see the inherent dignity of every human life and to see that life begins at the moment of conception. The greatest way that we can continue building up a culture of life is to live holiness in our own lives. If we pray and make use of the sacraments of the Eucharist and Confession on a regular basis, Jesus will work in and through us to reach people in ways that we never have thought possible.
I encourage you to live holiness in your own life, and especially as we celebrate this monumental victory in the cause for life to to simply express to your family, your children, your friends, and especially to the women in your life, that if they found themselves in a difficult situation that you would be there to support them. Sometimes one voice of support can do so much to help someone have hope in a dark situation. Fortunately, we as individuals are not called to solve every problem in the world, we are simply called to do what we can where we are with the skills and abilities that we have.
I am also happy to announce that as a parish last weekend we raised nearly $1400 dollars for Birthright! I was so pleased to see such a generous outpouring of love and support for such a great cause.
Please continue to pray for the protection of the unborn and for the conversion of minds and hearts in our society!
