Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Lots of things to catch up on, so let’s dive in.
Day of Giving
A huge word of gratitude to Kathy Huskey, Erika Wengert and all those who made the Day of Giving possible this year in leu of our ordinary auction. In case you haven’t heard, we’ve received over $56k in charitable giving! This will go a long way towards continuing to ensure the viability of our school and parish during this challenging year. Thank you!
Monthly Eucharistic Adoration
This Saturday, Oct 3rd, is our monthly adoration from 8:30am to 3:30pm. Feel free to come spend some time with our Lord! Please sign up [HERE] if you can commit an hour.
This Sunday is the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. As such, we’re inviting you to join us this Sunday at 1pm outside the church for a blessing of animals.
Join us immediately afterwards, Oct 4th, from 2pm – 3pm, for our annual Life Chain, witnessing to the dignity and beauty of life from conception to natural death, and the supporting and healing mercy of Jesus. We’ll join in prayer and peaceful witness along Hwy 21 near 3rd St.
Do you know someone who is suffering from a prior abortion? Our Lord desires greatly to heal the wounds of the heart with his abundant mercy. Rachel’s Vineyard offers a powerful weekend retreat, Nov .13-15, for women, men, and couples. Suggested cost is $50, though money should not be an obstacle. All inquiries and information in confidential. Please visit www.rachelsvineyard.org for more information.
Disposal of Blessed Items
As Catholics, we often accumulate various religious items and artifacts that have been blessed for a specific purpose. Some of them might be from family members and have sentimental value. Others might be gifts or things we’ve collected over the years. The question I often hear is what do we do with these things when they are no longer of use. The Code of Canon Law §1171 states, “Sacred objects, which are designated for divine worship by dedication or blessing, are to be treated reverently and are not to be employed for profane or inappropriate use even if they are owned by private persons.” There is a collection box in the back of the church for you to drop any unwanted items in and we will arrange with Brown Funeral Home to bury them in our cemetery in November. Books, medals, prayer cards, rosaries… all are suitable for burial. Any items still salvageable will be available for our parishioners later in October after we sanitize them. If you have any questions, contact Debbie in the parish office.
Public Square Rosary Rally
Join others at Lewis Flooring’s parking lot on October 10th at Noon for the annual Public Square Rosary rally to pray our nation and the many challenges we face.
Lastly, I will be gone on my annual retreat October 12th – 17th. I will be without cellphone reception or email access. Please keep me in your prayers that I may return spiritually refreshed and recharged, more united with Jesus, THE Good Shepherd.
That’s all for this week!
Gratefully in Christ,
